J starts with Jaa
Olivia has been on the cusp of figuring out what this reading thing is all about, for what seems like forever! She is always telling us tidbits of information. “J starts with Jaa, mom.” “Well sweetheart J makes the Sound, Jaa.” “Ughhh. Mom I already told you that a thousand times..” She makes me giggle. Her memory and knowledge is amazing, to me. Last year before Easter we were getting our hardwood floors refinished. And had to spend the night ‘camping’ in the basement, the night before Easter. I had completely forgotten about this. And when I started getting various Easter decor out. Olivia was so excited and jumping around that Easter was almost here so we could go camping!! I casually told her no, and then reminded her the real meaning of Easter. To which she got a little annoyed and reminded me that she knew about Jesus and all, but we got to go camping in the basement last time. Then I remembered it was at Easter time last year we were banished from the main floor! I am constantly having to keep on my toes with that quick little whip of a mind of hers!
Another Olivia story.
This weekend J bought O a little kite and we went to the school grounds to go and fly it. She was so happy about her kite and she stood there proud getting to hold onto it while it soared up into the sky. That was until she just let go. It was quickly up and out of our reach. Which we still find odd since there was hardly any wind to begin with.(We are NOT expert kite flyers and maybe this is normal behavior for an abandoned kite?) And unlike you would think a normal kite would do, and pitter around for a bit and fall. It SOARED high, HIGH up into the sky. And just kept going until it was a tiny little dot and disappeared. O was soo so sad. She bawled and bawled. “I MISS MY KITE!”
We tried to help her get over the fact and have her go play on the playground equipment. NO! I miss my kite too much. Then suddenly she said in one of the most sad voices “Maybe if I exercise a little I will get happier.”
To which she walked over to a piece of equipment that you bounce on. And with extremely exaggerated facial expressions. She started with sad, “not yet mom” to indifferent “not yet” to small smirk “getting happier” and slowly going into full blown giggling “I’m happy NOW! I’m Happy! It worked!!” Her happiness sure made all the rest of us happy too.
Mothers Day I was presented with flowers and a present. It was a lensbaby. I have wanted a lensbaby forever! Years ago I came across a ladies crafting blog, that took the most amazing photos I have ever seen. I know now with all the photo editing software you can achieve similar effects. But! I GOT A LENSBABY. I am very excited and have been photographing everything from the coffee maker to the kids with its amazing tilt shift technology.
I was a very happy momma this year. Although, I am everyday of the year, with my sweet little family. I love you guys.
